In our case, this was the first retirement celebration we’ve ever hosted, and we wanted it to be special.
After nearly 19 years of dedication, loyalty, and impact, we wanted to send our colleague off in a way that felt deeply personal, joyful, and reflective of the role she played in our workplace culture. What followed was a behind-the-scenes effort that involved quiet coordination, teamwork, creativity—and a lot of sneaking around the office like ninjas.
Props to our team, especially since her workstation sits directly across from where much of the planning took place! But we’re always up for a challenge.
Here’s what we pulled together—completely without her knowledge:
