About Our Vision

At V.F. McNeil Insurance, we always knew our mission was to treat people the way we would want to be treated. We take the job of getting our clients the coverage they need, at a cost they can afford, very seriously. We’re committed to providing our clients with the support they need to choose and manage their insurance no matter what tomorrow brings.

When it comes to our community, we’ve always believed in the importance of doing our part to strengthen the communities where our staff and clients live and work.

However, a true written Vision, one that inspired our official tagline…The right insurance from day one®, wasn’t born until 2020. We started reviewing almost fifteen years of feedback from our clients, and this effort brought our team to one conclusion. Based on this collective feedback, it was frequently remarked, that after coming to V.F. McNeil Insurance, each responding client felt as if they finally got the right insurance.

Whether it was because, they now have a clear understanding of what they are paying for, or that they now know how their coverage works, or because they finally receive prompt service and response time, our clients expressed this satisfaction in their remarks. Some other comments included confidence in our periodic coverage reviews, our diligence in finding opportunities to save, our advocacy with claims, and believe it or not, that they are now being treated nicely. No matter what the reason, we’re proud we’ve provided this experience to our clients.

Our History

Since 1886, when Virgil F. McNeil started the company, V.F. McNeil Insurance has been serving the property and casualty insurance needs of businesses,
families, and individuals primarily in Connecticut, but also throughout the country. Operating under the ownership of the McNeil-Sturgess family since 1886, the Trusted Choice® independent insurance agency transferred ownership in 2012 to Daniel McNamara, a long-time employee and Vice President at V.F. McNeil Insurance. Under the leadership of Mr. McNamara, the agency remains committed to the same level of service to its clients and its community for which the McNeil-Sturgess family and all of V.F. McNeil Insurance have become so well known for.
