It’s not just clients feeling the pressure—insurance teams need support too

The insurance industry has always been fast-paced, but the ongoing hard market has added even more pressure—not just for consumers, but for those of us working tirelessly behind the scenes to support them. At V.F. McNeil Insurance, we’ve seen firsthand how this demanding environment can take a toll on both mental and physical well-being. That’s why, in mid-February 2025, we made an intentional decision to invest in our team. Workplace wellness is no longer a “nice to have”—it’s a vital, ongoing commitment.

Since launching our Workplace Wellness Program, we’ve introduced weekly wellness segments that focus on topics ranging from physical fitness to mental health awareness. Our team has enjoyed activities like on-site chair massages, “early out” days to recharge, and a variety of short educational videos aimed at promoting self-care.

Making room for wellness—literally

Most recently, we’ve added a new feature we’re especially proud of—a relaxation room. This quiet, comfortable space was created as a place where our staff can decompress, reset, and take a well-deserved moment for themselves during the day.

The goal is simple: to support our team with the tools and opportunities they need to thrive. Because when employees feel cared for and valued, everyone benefits—our company, our clients, and most importantly, our people.

We’re excited to continue growing our wellness efforts and leading by example in prioritizing employee well-being.

A call to fellow Connecticut businesses

If you’re a business owner or manager in Connecticut, take a moment to think about the dedicated team that’s stood by you through thick and thin—those dependable, hard-working employees who go above and beyond to serve your clients and help grow your business.

Now ask yourself: What are you doing to take care of them?

In today’s world, it’s more important than ever to go beyond typical compensation. Your employees need to know they are seen, heard, and valued. Especially in a labor market as competitive as Connecticut’s, where finding great employees is harder than ever, the key to long-term success isn’t just recruitment—it’s retention.

Investing in a workplace wellness program doesn’t have to be complicated or costly. Small steps can make a big difference in morale, retention, and overall performance. Whether it’s educational wellness content, stress-relief activities, or a simple space to recharge, showing your team, you care goes a long way.

Your employees take care of your business every day. Make sure you’re taking care of them, too.

Start small, start simple—but start today!
