What’s the true difference?

Marketing DirectorBy: Pauline Handy – Marketing Director

As you all know, there are many commercials on television created by insurance companies that include a collection of “creative” messages aimed to persuade consumers to choose their company for their insurance needs.

These messages include humor, dramatizations, cartoons, animals, catchy slogans, and endless claims of being the company that’s different from all others.  Oh, and don’t let me forget the promises to save you the most money.  Don’t get me wrong, I do appreciate the creativity that’s put into some of these commercials. But is creativity enough?

Seriously, what is the true difference?  Are they really focused on the insurance consumer’s needs?  Or do they focus their budget on expensive advertisements?  How well do they service their clients when the clients need them the most?  Their premium may often be cheap, but is their coverage cheap too?  Will it stand up to the test of a devastating claim?  Will it save their clients from financial jeopardy?  These are all important questions that many insurance consumers would probably like the answers to before they choose an insurance provider.

As usual, whenever I’m looking for solid information to provide to our clients and others considering V.F. McNeil, the answers always seem to surface right here in the agency.  I guess that’s the advantage of being on the “inside.”

A new client recently commented to her Account Manager that she now feels as if she has her very own personal insurance agent. She then thanked her Account Manager extensively for her help and all of her hard work.  Apparently, her past experience with one of the other companies was very different.  Wait a minute. I’ve heard this story before.  Yes!  In fact, I’ve heard this story many times before.  Gosh, they make my job so easy here!

The unfortunate truth is, we often find out that many of the promises and portrayals made by companies with huge marketing budgets are often a bit shy of the truth.  I guess it would be unfair and possibly inaccurate to speak for every circumstance with every other company.  We can only speak for what we have reference to.  However, what we can always speak for is our own agency, and how we operate.

Our focus as insurance professionals, a role we take very seriously, is to help you solve problems before they happen.  We strive to help you design coverage that is affordable, but not in a way that could jeopardize your ability to handle something that you couldn’t afford on your own, and that’s financial devastation from being inadequately insured.  Our resources are used to continuously support and educate our team and, in turn, our clients.  They are used to solidify strong, long-lasting relationships with financially sound carriers. They are also used for ongoing technology advancements to create maximum efficiency for our clients.

You may not see on us television, or on a huge billboard using cartoons, lizards, or any funny stuff to get you to choose our agency, but you may call us or visit us anytime to learn that even though we too are all fun people and like a good laugh or to express our creativity here and there, we simply don’t feel as if your personal protection is a laughing matter.  We take that very seriously and promise that we will always work hard to be sure we do our best for you, and others that you know.  That’s the true difference.

Please don’t keep us a secret.
